Visa Reinstatement

Students whose SEVIS records have been terminated may apply for reinstatement under 8 CFR 214.2(f)(16), provided the violation was due to circumstances beyond their control or minor infractions.

STEPS FOR REINSTATEMENT
  • Submit Form I-539 to USCIS with the following:
  • A new I-20 marked "Reinstatement Requested" from your DSO.
  • Proof of continued academic eligibility and enrollment intent.
  • A personal statement explaining the circumstances of the violation.
  • Financial documents supporting ability to pay tuition and living expenses.
  • Reactivation is at the discretion of USCIS and not guaranteed. Legal counsel is highly recommended.

IMPORTANT : Filing for reinstatement does not guarantee the right to remain in the U.S. during proceedings unless authorized.
